From the gutter to the pipes to the rain

From the gutter to the pipes to the rain” is a Semester project around a small one-story house in Albisrieden of a group of three. Starting with research and an imagined interior, rainwater and pipes became the central element.

The pipes and infrastructure in the whole house was restructured. Living with the pipes, but in a more tough trough way. With the reorganization of the pipes, the introduction of a new heating system, roof and opening of the west facade, the first boundary conditions for the new building were set.

The new family house, on the plot next to the renovated house, connected via the roof, was completely dedicated to the theme of rain. The focus was on how rain is perceived, the connection to rain and how this is translated into architecture. The building itself was planned so that the rain can be experienced with all our senses. Be it just hearing the raindrops, smelling the wet asphalt, watching the wet grass or feeling its private rain in a small, enclosed courtyard.
